Family Banking

Thanks for the rapid development of cord blood stem cells in clinical uses, banking cord blood for future use becomes a common practice for expectant parents. In the US, the first public cord blood program NCBP was established in 1992 through funding provided by the country's National Institutes of Health (NIH). Since then, public and private cord blood banks proliferated around the world.

To date, the leading family cord blood banks in the world boasted they have processed and stored stem cells for “nearly 300,000 newborns”.[1]  Cord blood stored privately is intended for the exclusive use of the family when such medical need arises. It could be for autologous (self use) transplant, or intra family allogeneic transplant. Over the years, there were many successful cases where children in need of a hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) have benefited from the cord blood of their siblings. It has been acknowledged that patients recover better when they receive stem cells from a related donor, instead of an unrelated donor.

We are the first company in Asia to offer private cord blood banking service.,Cell Therapy Technologies Centre Limited launched this service in 1998 under the name of CRYOLIFE. Up until 2005, CRYOLIFE remained the only private cord blood bank serving the territory.
