1. Which hospitals accept cord blood donation´╝č
Hong Kong Red Cross Transfusion Service collect cord blood only at Queen Elizabeth, Kwong Wah, Prince of Wales and Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospitals.




2. Who can donate cord blood?
Any pregnant woman who meets the following requirements is eligible for cord blood donation:

  • She, her husband and children have no history of cancers
  • There is no history of Haemoglobinopathy, Immunodeficiency, Coagulopathy, Metabolic Diseases and Blood Cancers within her or her husband's immediate family
  • She is healthy and has no infectious diseases (e.g., venereal disease, Hepatitis B & C, AIDS etc)
  • She has not received any clotting factor concentrate, organ or tissue transplant
  • She has not spent 3 or more cumulative months in the UK between 1 January 1980 and 31 December 1996
  • She agrees to provide BTS with blood samples for infection marker testing according to the international standards
  • She is willing to provide Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service with the baby's full name, identity number and health information

 




3. Is there any specific time for cord blood collection´╝č
Yes, cord blood collection time is:

  • Monday to Friday and Sunday(except the day before public holidays): 7:30am to 10:00pm
  • One-day public holiday or the last day of long public holidays: 7:30am to 10:00pm
